Josh and Brigitte have been in hospitality in Tauranga for over 10 years; they owned and operated "shiraz cafe" in Tauranga.
After selling the business in 2004 they travelled the Mediterranean on a food itinerary that took them from Greece to Morocco.
Inspiration from this trip across Europe has resulted in quality food on the menu that is tasty and reflecting gastronomic diversity.
The name slowfish is derived from "slow food" a movement that came out of Italy in 1986. It promotes high quality food that is locally produced and prepared and opposes the standardisation of the opposite "fast food."
Everything is made on the premises including all baking by Dean Komene the pastry chef who turns lemon tarts and chocolate cakes into works of art.
ORB is a new roast excuslive to Slowfish and won the Supreme Award at the coffee festival in 2007.
The espresso machine is a replica of “The Legend” an Italian 3 group lever machine made by Faema in 1961.
Slowfish Barista Maria Arias has been making coffee for 10 years and is passionate about her art!
